The main advantage of SPDX license identifiers over the traditional
license headers is that it's more difficult to overlook inappropriate
licenses for kwin, for example GPL 3. We also don't have to copy a
lot of boilerplate text.
In order to create this change, I ran licensedigger -r -c from the
toplevel source directory.
Summary:
This has been commented out since 2014, I doubt it will come back.
This is a big amount of code, maintenance will be easier without it.

Summary:
KWin's window management powers are not as discoverable as they could be--particularly tiling, which by default has no visible UI and no keyboard shortcuts. Resolving this issue is highly relevant to {T6831}.
This patch re-assigns the {key Meta arrowkeys} shortcuts that are currently used for `move zoomed area` (which are pretty esoteric, infrequently-used actions), adding {key ctrl} to their shortcuts. This allows us to use their valuable {key Meta arrowkeys} for more useful and commonly-used window management actions:
- {key Meta Left}: quick tile window to the left
- {key Meta Right}: quick tile window to the right
- {key Meta Up}: quick-tile window to the top
- {key Meta Down}: quick-tile the window to the bottom
The patch also sets some default shortctuts for minimize and maximize:
- {key Meta PageDown}: minimize window
- {key Meta PageUp}: maximize/de-maximize the window

- {key meta up} tiles the active window to the top

Summary:
Thanks to std::bind we don't need that many different slots to setup the
global shortcut connections. Instead we can have one shared
implementation which takes the argument and passes it to the window.
To support std::bind arguments in kwinbindings the initShortcut method
and dependencies are adjusted as well as a new macro is added.
As I don't want to include abstract_client.h in workspace.h a new enum
is created for the quick tiling flags used in Workspace. This caused a
larger refactoring as the change to an enum class also caused quite some
changes.

This adds "Quick Tile Window to the Top" and "Quick Title Window to the Bottom" shortcuts. These are
useful for those using displays that are in portrait orientation.

The ActionCollection was only used for two features:
* setting the object name
* finding the action for retrieving it's shortcut
This can also be achieved by just setting the object name and searching
for the children of the Workspace singleton.
Method replaces the logic of the macros. The macros are still there
to not need to change all the code. Major difference is that the new
method uses the compile time checked connect syntax.

* QString::fromUtf8 needed for const char* and QByteArray
* QByteArray::constData() needed to get to the const char*
This shortcut did not make any sense to me, because you could block the
global shortcuts for KWin, but not re-enable them again. So once blocked,
it was blocked for ever till kwin --replace &.
This is in opposite to the commit message which introduced it
(see BUG 108961).

The ownership for virtual desktops is moved from Workspace into a new
VirtualDesktopManager. The manager is responsible for providing the count
of virtual desktops and keeping track of the currently used virtual
desktop.
All methods related to moving between desktops are also moved from
Workspace to the new manager, though all methods related to Clients on
Virtual Desktops remain in Workspace for the time being. This is to have
the new manager as independent from KWin core as possible.
An rather important change for the handling of virtual desktops is that
the count and the id of a desktop is now an unsinged integer instead of
an integer. The reason for that is that we cannot have a negative count
of desktops as well as it is not possible to be on a desktop with a
negative identifier.
In that regard it is important to remember that a Client can be on a
desktop with a negative identifier. The special value for a Client being
on all desktops is handled by using -1 as a desktop. For the time being
this is not adjusted but instead of comparing the virtual desktop ids one
should prefer to use the convenient methods like isOnDesktop and
isOnAllDesktops. This would allow in future to internally change the
representation for on all desktops.
Move the funtionality of TabBox from class Workspace to class TabBox to make
it possible to deactivate this feature by setting a compile flag.
All methods and variables are now provided by class TabBox and calls from other
classes go directly to TabBox.
The code for configuring the shortcut keys has also been moved to class TabBox
from kwinbindings.cpp.
Mouse Emulation is provided in a better way by KAccess. This provides
a global systemsettings switch to enable mouse emulation instead of
a shortcut and Xkb to enable mouse control with keyboard instead of
sending out fake mouse events.
So no need for duplicated functionality in KWin.

We have ksnapshot for that which uses a KWin effect to get
screenshots including shadows, which was not possible with
KWin's own implementation.

It was applied as a patch. Do not attempt to merge the branch directly, it has a few issues.
This feature is currently experimental, although it hasn't crashed in quite a long time. It lacks some features and probably leaks some memory. Fixes will be on the way.

- Add geometry restoring to quick tile, meaning that windows can be moved back to their original state after a tile, useful if just looking at something quickly.

This appears to have been introduced by r568780, which turned META+CTRL+Del into CTRL+Del to "only use 3-modifiers shortcuts in the code";
it now uses the kde3 shortcut instead, ctrl+alt+esc, which should be okay since the point of r568780 was really to avoid META I think.
